Message Regarding the NRHA Futurity Open Preliminary Redraw
Due to the modified event schedule and the reduced number of competition days, NRHA needed to conduct a redraw of the Futurity Open go-round. The original draw was created under a very different timeline—one that assumed more days, more flexibility, and more spacing between runs. Once the schedule changed, that draw no longer minimized conflicts or ensured the fairest possible competition order.
As there is another event immediately following the Futurity, there was no option for extending the days of the show.
A redraw allowed us to:
- Reduce unavoidable scheduling conflicts created by the compressed calendar
- Ensure equitable spacing between horses from the same trainer or operation
- Support the welfare of the horses by avoiding back-to-back demands created by the revised show structure
- Maintain competitive integrity under the new, condensed format
- Remain in compliance with our own conditions.
